How to Become a Volunteer
We take great care in the selection of volunteers to help ensure the safety of the children we serve. Your first step is to attend one of our information sessions so you can learn more about being a CASA volunteer. Next, you can submit an application.
Application, Screening and Training
- Submit an Application
Prospective volunteers who have attended an information session may submit an application for pre-service training. You can apply online or request a Word version of the application by e-mail.
- Participate in Interviews
Applicants participate in interviews with Fairfax CASA staff and submit to background checks.
- Complete Pre-service Training
All Fairfax CASA volunteers must be accepted into pre-service training and complete a training program before taking a case. The next pre-service training class begins in June 2013.
- Accept a Case
Volunteers who complete pre-service training are sworn into service by a juvenile judge and considered ready to accept a case.
