Staff Recommendation #1: The Odyssey (Feel-good)

The Odyssey, a modern-day adaptation of Homer’s epic poem, follows a heroic king, Odyssey, on his journey back to Ithaca after a ten-year battle in the Trojan War.

Kirsten shared, “This film has something for everyone: action, adventure, family drama.   I especially enjoyed how they incorporated Homer’s prose directly into some of the scenes.”

Staff Recommendation #2: No Address

No Address follows the stories of multiple individuals whose personal struggles and losses led to homelessness. In their disparity, they found hope through community. The film depicts the reality that many Americans face today – people are only one crisis away from experiencing homelessness.

Corrine shared, “Based on true events, this compelling drama follows a group of individuals experiencing homelessness.”

Staff Recommendation #3: Lost and Arrested: How a Series of Disastrous Events Led a Former Foster Youth into ICE Custody

The Imprint’s two-part series tells the story of Axel Percero, a former foster youth who is fought to stay in the United States. The only place he’s ever called home.

Axel was on his way back to the hotel where he was supposed to attend a training for programs serving children and youth in foster care, when he was suddenly stopped by local police. Officers arrested Axel for a years-old traffic misdemeanor and failure to appear in court. He was then transferred to an ICE detention center and was deported in March 2026.

Jocelyn shared, “Former foster youth with law infractions are often the result of systemic failures: a lack of resources, support, and services available to youth aging out of foster care. With no safety net or connections to a reliable adult, youth are more likely to engage in criminal activity. Axel could potentially lose everything he’s built over a mistake that occurred during a time when he was in and out of homelessness in his early 20s.  Despite spending recent years advocating for foster youth and children like himself, the system has failed him yet again.”
