Virtual Information Session for Bilingual Candidates
June 15, 2021 @ 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Date: June 15, 2021, 7:00-8:30pm
When a child has a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) who looks like them, speaks their language, and can understand their racial and cultural experiences, they are better served and supported. At Fairfax CASA, it is important to us that our CASA volunteers reflect the diversity of the children we serve. As of today, 34% of the children we currently serve in Fairfax County Hispanic (Latino/Latina?), yet less than 17% of the general population of Fairfax is Hispanic (Latino/Latina?) We need a diverse pool of volunteers who can provide culturally competent advocacy to these children, today. Join us for an online presentation via Zoom to learn about the role and responsibilities of a Court Appointed Special Advocate for abused and neglected children, and how to become one. You will also hear from a veteran CASA about what to expect in this unique and rewarding volunteer role. YOU can change a child’s story!
RSVP to reserve your spot and receive Zoom details by emailing us at volunteer@casafairfax.org!
