Giving Tuesday Has Ended–But the Need Continues

Each year, on the first Tuesday of December, millions of people around the world rally together to support local and global causes. Giving Tuesday is officially recognized as the Global Day of Giving. It originated in 2012 to encourage charitable giving to counterbalance a weekend full of Black Friday consumerism.
Since its inception, Giving Tuesday has raised more than $22.5 billion for nonprofit organizations and charities across the United States. This Giving Tuesday, Fairfax CASA raised over $17,000. Because of the generosity of 55 donors, we’re able to provide a dedicated advocate to children like Hannah,* who was just an infant when she entered the system.
Hannah endured immense trauma at an early age. She was left unattended for hours, starved, and often physically abused. She had no sense of comfort, security, or stability. Her CASA devoted over 400 hours to advocacy, visited Hannah 75 times, and drove more than 2,000 miles to fulfill their duties. Thanks to this dedicated support, Hannah’s story resulted in a successful adoption with a loving family.
Transforming the lives of vulnerable children is possible because of volunteers like Hannah’s CASA and the generosity of our incredible donors. Hannah is just one of many children our program serves. As more children find themselves in the system, we need your help to ensure not one child stands alone in the new year.
When you give today, your tax-deductible donation will support and fund our recruitment, screening, and training efforts–ensuring every child has a qualified, trusted, and prepared adult by their side. Our year-end goal is $80,000, and we’re only a third of the way there. Your support can help close the gap and change a child’s life.
