Facial Fuzz for Fairfax CASA Reaches Halfway Mark

Facing a funding gap this year, Fairfax CASA has had to get creative with fundraising ideas. Inspired by a few of their sister CASA programs who have raised significant funds during “No Shave November,” Fairfax CASA decided to launch “Facial Fuzz for Fairfax CASA” (FF4FC).  FF4FC is taking place the whole month of November. Participants, also known as GROWERS, pledge to stop shaving for the month and encourage friends, family, and colleagues to donate to their individual fundraising page, for Fairfax CASA.  With ten growers in full facial fuzz, we are almost halfway to our goal of $15,000!

Every contribution helps us provide dedicated advocates for abused and neglected children in Fairfax County. A single CASA volunteer can advocate for multiple children, ensuring they have a voice in court. 100% of Fairfax CASA’s funding comes from donations, competitive grants, and fundraising events. Your support for FF4FC goes directly to supporting the advocacy that promotes brighter futures for our youth!

Fairfax CASA kicked off the FF4FC fundraising campaign on November 7 at High Side in downtown Fairfx City. Attendees sported their impressive facial fuzz while enjoying High Side’s delicious food and drinks. Growers shared their progress with their facial hair and their growing campaign. The evening was a fantastic start to the campaign, bringing together CASAs and supporters united in a commitment to making a difference for the children in our community.

Right now, CASA volunteer Glen Corso is in the lead, rallying over $2000 in support for Fairfax CASA.

“What inspired me to participate in the fundraiser is my work as a CASA. I find it very fulfilling, and I am constantly amazed at how full of life the children I work with through CASA are, even though some of them have gone through truly wrenching experiences. I believe Fairfax CASA does great work, and I want others to know and appreciate that,” Glen said.

Many individuals are learning about Fairfax CASA for the first time through the FF4FC campaign. It has not only raised funds for the organization’s efforts, but it has also sparked meaningful conversations about CASA’s mission to support abused and neglected children in Fairfax County. Supervisor and FF4FC participant Keenan Goldsby commented on this phenomenon, “I think that this has been a great vehicle for raising awareness. I have shared my participation in FF4FC on social media, and many of my friends who previously did not know anything about CASA have commented on what a worthwhile cause this appears to be. And some of those friends, with whom I haven’t spoken for years, have given me donations!”

With less than two weeks left for FF4FC fundraiser, now is the perfect time to show your support for the children in our community. There’s still time for growers to catch up or for others to join in by donating to their favorite grower. Every contribution helps us get closer to our goal!
