Fairfax CASA Welcomes 9 New Volunteers

Fairfax CASA welcomed 9 new CASA volunteers during a swearing-in ceremony on February 24, 2021.

The volunteers will advocate for children who are before the court as the result of abuse or neglect. Chief Judge of the Fairfax County Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Court Todd Petit administered the CASA Volunteer Oath of Appointment in a virtual ceremony, in which the volunteers pledged that they are willing and ready to be advocates for Fairfax’s most vulnerable children.

These passionate and dedicated individuals completed over 35 hours of training on such as childhood development, domestic violence, and substance abuse, mental health, and cultural competency. The new CASAs also observed a court hearing with a tenured CASA as a part of their training.
